Ventriloquism.org

For ventriloquists

Tell us your story

This is a big, ambitious project — created by and for our community. Ventriloquism.org will be a hub for everything ventriloquism, and we want you to be part of it.

Every ventriloquist gets a permanent, sourced page. This is how you make sure yours is right — written from what you say rather than what we can dig up.

Name, email, a photo and a website link is genuinely enough to start. Everything else is optional.

Who you are

Stage names, earlier names, spellings people get wrong.

Never published. We use it to check facts with you before the page goes live.

Optional and never published. Some questions about your page are just faster by text.

Add the state, province or region too if it helps.

One per line, or however they come out.

The work

The real version. Who put the first figure in your hands?

Comedy clubs, corporate, schools, cruise, church, family shows, festivals, TV — whatever's true.

TV, film, theater, residencies, tours, talent shows. Dates if you have them.

Vent Haven and anything else, with years if you can.

Your figures

We give figures their own pages — who built them, what they're made of, how they came to you. Most references treat the dummy as a prop. We don't.

One per line if you can: name — maker — year — material. Anything you know. If there's a story behind one, tell it below.

Optional, and often the best part of the page.

Lineage

⭐ This is the part nobody has ever mapped. Who taught whom, across the whole art. Your answer here becomes a permanent link in it.

Teachers, mentors, the vent who answered your letters, whoever it really was.

Living or dead, met or never met.

Optional. Technique, hard-won lessons, what you wish someone had told you.

Photos

Two different jobs, so we ask for them separately: a headshot identifies you, a performing shot shows the act. Both help the page a great deal.

Just you. JPG or PNG, as large as you have.

You with your figures, on stage or in the act. Choose several — up to 8.

The figures on their own, if you have them. These make the figure pages.

So we can credit them properly. If it was you, say so.

Video

YouTube, Vimeo, anything public. One per line. Your best first.

Be part of it

We can't build this alone, and we don't want to. If you'd like a hand in making it, say so here — we'll come to you.

Permission

Corrections to what's already online about you are especially welcome.

We'll read every one.
